Dr. Pradeep Kumar is a distinguished expert in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, Heart & Lung Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS), bringing over 17+ years of specialized experience to the field. Trained at GB Pant Hospital, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, he has extensive expertise in pediatric and adult cardiac surgeries, including complex congenital procedures, CABG, valve, and arch surgeries, along with proficiency in transesophageal echocardiography.
Dr. Pradeep has been instrumental in establishing leading heart and lung transplant, LVAD, and ECMO programs across major Indian cities, including Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad. He has managed over 380+ heart and lung transplants, 30+ LVAD/BIVAD cases, and 300+ ECMO procedures. His experience spans managing heart failure, end-stage lung disease, and transplant ICUs. He has also developed India-specific protocols for heart and lung transplants, VADs, ECMO, marginal donor optimization, and immunosuppression.
He has further enriched his expertise through observerships at Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, Canada and Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, USA focusing on heart and lung transplantation, VADs, TAVI, and ex-vivo lung perfusion systems (EVLP).
Experience
With over 16 years of experience in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Dr Pradeep Kumar began with a 3-year residency in Anaesthesiology, followed by a 3-year fellowship in Cardiac Anaesthesia. This was succeeded by roles as Assistant Consultant (1 year) and Associate Consultant (2+ years) in cardiothoracic anaesthesia. The consultant-level experience spans more than 7 years, including specialized roles in Cardiothoracic Transplant Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, and later he elevated to Director-level positions overseeing Anaesthesia, CVTS, Transplant, and MCS services for over 3 years. Since late 2022, continues to serve as a Senior Visiting Consultant in Heart and Lung Transplant Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
