Dr Prashanta Chihnara

Dr. Prashanta Chihnara is an accomplished neurosurgeon with over 12 years of experience in the field of neurosurgery. He has completed his M.Ch. in Neurosurgery from Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, following his M.S. in General Surgery from S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack, and M.B.B.S. from M.K.C.G. Medical College, Berhampur. He has also completed a Fellowship in Neuroendoscopy from N.S.C.B. Government Medical College and Hospital, Jabalpur, and a Clinical Observership in Full Endoscopic Spine Surgery under Dr. Sukumar Sura at Asian Spine Hospital, Hyderabad.

Dr. Chihnara has extensive expertise in a wide range of neurosurgical domains, including Neuro–Oncosurgery (Brain and Spine Tumors), Trauma Management (Head and Spine Injuries), Surgery for Cerebrovascular Accidents (Stroke), and Degenerative Spine Diseases such as PIVD, Radiculopathy, and Myelopathy. His skills further extend to the management of Infective Brain and Spine Diseases, Hydrocephalus Treatment, Endoscopic Spine Surgery (Monportal/UBE) for degenerative spine conditions, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Endoscopic Cranial Surgery, Epilepsy and Pediatric Neurosurgery, and Congenital Brain and Spine Abnormalities. He is also well-versed in recent and advanced surgical techniques in neurosurgery.

Throughout his career, Dr. Chihnara has held several esteemed positions, including Consultant Neurosurgeon at Gleneagles Aware Hospital, L.B. Nagar, Hyderabad, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at NIMS, Hyderabad, and Senior Resident in Neurosurgery at AIIMS, Bhopal. His contributions to the field have been recognized with multiple accolades, including the Best Poster Award at Neurovascon 2022 (AIIMS, Raipur) and selection for Award Paper Presentation at NSSICON 2023. He also served as the Joint Organising Secretary for the International Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN) Midterm Conference 2024.

Dr. Chihnara has several publications to his credit, including research on “Prospective Study of Prognostic Factors in Single vs. Double Burrhole Drainage for Ipsilateral Fronto-Temporo-Parietal Chronic SDH” (IOSR) and “Effect and Management of Hyponatremia in Post-Operative Craniotomy Cases” (European Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine).

He is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Neurological Society of India (NSI) and the Indian Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery (INDSPN).
